Turquiose
Glasser-Ehrlich Residence
This new 1,400 square foot house built in Ann Arbor, was designed to fit in among the mature trees on this 0.3 acre lot. The house was designed for a couple and included a master suite and artist studio that houses a Murphy bed that folds out of a wall to double as a guest room. The objective was a low maintenance, inexpensive, sustainable house with high efficiency radiant heat, passive solar techniques, rock-face masonry, standing seam metal roofing and white washed wood structure and ceilings. This innovative house was built for only $165,000 in 1997 and subsequently a $40,000 media room was added in 2002 and a $15,000 screen porch in 2010. The project won an AIA Huron Valley Honor Award.
